
Pandjab Floods: The District Administration AMRITSAR announced on Sunday that schools will be 8 September closed in the middle of the flood in the state. On Tuesday it will reopen, except for schools in Ajnala-1, Ajnal-2, Chogawan-1 and Chogawan-2.
“All schools in Amritsar will remain closed on September 8 at September 9th. It will reopen (with the exception of Ajnala-1, Ajnala-2, Chogawan-1, Chogawan-2). The reopening was only allowed after cleaning, disinfection, security checks and submission of a security certificate,” said Sakshi Sawhney, Amritsar.
The recent heavy rains in Pandjab have deteriorated the flood situation. Officials stated that the floods in the pandjab had so far resulted in 46 deaths and damaged the crops to 175,000 hectares of agricultural land.
PM Modi to visit 9. September
BJP’s head chief Sunil said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pandjab 9 September to assess the flood situation. “He (Modi) visits Pandjab on September 9 to personally assess local conditions and understand the ground reality to provide maximum assistance to people in Pandjab,” Jakhar said at X.
He added: “Two teams of the Central Government, which visited the damage caused by floods in Pandjab, will be able to present their reports to the Central Government after their tour.
Minister of Agriculture of the Union Shivraj Singh Chouhan 4. September visited Pandjab to review the situation in the state. Chouhan checked the scope of crop damage and described it “Pralai (Deluge)”. He guaranteed farmers that the government would do everything in our power to help them overcome this crisis. The Minister visited the floods of the affected area in the districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.
The swollen rivers Sutlej, Beas and Ravi, along with seasonal streams, caused extensive floods in the pandjab after severe rainfall in their basin in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
IAF performs auxiliary operations
Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters actively perform auxiliary operations in the area affected by floods in Panjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. IAF evacuated 541 people from the Bharmor-Chamba area and handed over more than 10,000 kg of basic supplies to the Kulle and Kishtwar sector, and reported.
In the X, IAF said that its sources remain in standby for further operations, which demonstrates their determination to provide humanitarian aid and disaster assistance.
IAF said: “Helicopters of the Indian Air Force continue to provide auxiliary operations in Pandjab, Himachal and J&K by evacuating 541 people from the Bharmor-Chamba sector and reflecting more than 10,000 kg of base material in the Kulle and Kishtware sector.”
