Together, the local department and general education department plan to start a scholarship to educate generations of students who can become ambassadors of pure surroundings.
The scholarship of Vidyarthi Harith Sena (Green Army of Students), preliminarily named “Ecosense 2025”, is launched in the background of the “Malinyamukham Navaker” scheme, which is carried out by the state government.
The scholarship stems from understanding that children can become catalysts for change. Its aim is to deal with scientific waste, develop green skills, finding new solutions to local waste management problems and reducing the amount of waste through children’s efforts.
Book
The scholarship is based on the ideas contained in books on waste management, which was caused by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for secondary school students and lessons on waste management, which were included in work education for higher primary students.
The scholarship will be provided to students from classes VI to IX and plus one students. There are discussions about the number of scholarships and amounts, although the amount of 1,000 or 1,500 GBP and quotes for 50,000 students is considered.
Teachers will play an important role in the selection of students. Local authorities and Missionwa Mission also participate in the award of scholarships.
One of the activities will require students to understand how the waste is segregated in their homes and will find out if there are enough segregated waste containers. If not, they will have to construct baskets from waste material for different types of waste and make them attractive.
Each of them was awarded four activities for higher primary, secondary school and plus one students in the instructions prepared by the Ministry of Education.
Individual activity
Those selected at the school level for scholarship will then have to take over individual activities, such as creating a functional system of biodegradable waste management system in their domestic and group activities, such as a study of waste management in its school and streamline.
After evaluation, students will be eligible for scholarships the opportunity to share their experience and observation on “Suchitwa Padhanotsavam”.
