SCCL appoints special officers to supervise production, quality of coal

HYDERABAD

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has launched a special initiative to increase coal production while ensuring uninterrupted supply of coal to consumers in accordance with declared quality.

Company chairman and managing director Buddhaprakash Jyoti on Saturday appointed special officers for each region to closely monitor coal production, quality, quality protection, dispatch, productivity, process improvement, efficiency enhancement, coordination between regional and corporate departments and implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs for the next three months in view of rising electricity demand in the state due to El Niño conditions.

The CMD held a virtual meeting from Hyderabad on Saturday with the Area General Managers to review coal production, coal quality, quality protection and dispatch. At the meeting Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti said that the quality of coal is the hallmark of Singareni and there will be absolutely no compromise on its preservation.

He instructed the officials to take strict measures in all areas to ensure that consumers receive coal strictly in accordance with the declared quality. During the review, officials pointed out that in some areas the mixing of ungraded coal and shale had affected the quality of the coal. The CMD has directed them to take strict corrective measures to ensure that such situations do not recur.

The CMD has directed that mining be done strictly seam-wise as per the Annual Coal Grading Plan and that coal production must be of declared quality. He further instructed them that the coal beds should be thoroughly cleaned before blasting at the unloading points and that sufficient distance should be maintained between the coal beds and the overburden beds.

Layers of rock and shale should be mined separately without mixing with coal and moved only to overburden dumps. He instructed the officials to ensure that sufficient number of crushers are deployed in all surface mines and coal processing plants (CHPs) and that they are in continuous operation.
