The Tamil Government Nadu (31 July 2025) reported the Supreme Court that Kerala had awarded a certificate of non-collection for tree felling near the 125-year-old Mulperiyar dam for decades.
The bench headed by Judge Surya Kant asked the Center to verify the information and consider the provision of the necessary environmental permits in the next four weeks to cut trees.
“The environmental offense from the Union government is still expected.
The Court also considered the report of the Supervisory Committee and asked Tamil Nad to consider a study of a panel after which Kerala can allow permission for injection work.
The court said that repairs could be made after the monsoon season in September or October.
At the previous meeting on May 19, Apex Court ordered both states and the center to facilitate interviews with the solution and solving long -term questions, such as cutting trees blocking access to the dam, transporting material to repair access and injection of the main superstructure of the dam.
