
A Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Lisa Gill, a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The recommendation was made at the February 26 meeting of the college, according to its statement.
In a statement, the collegium said it had taken a policy decision that a judge who is slated to take over the High Court as its chief justice can be transferred two months before the seat becomes vacant. It is about strengthening the quality and efficiency of the administration of justice, it said.
According to information available with the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Lisa Gill is a graduate of the Punjab University, Chandigarh and was enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and practiced in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In March 2014, she was elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
