The collegium of the Supreme Court has recommended the elevation of five judges to the position of Chief Justice of the High Courts.
A Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Thursday (December 18, 2025) recommended the elevation of five judges as Chief Justices of High Courts.
Justice Manoj Gupta of the Allahabad High Court has been nominated for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court on the retirement of the acting Chief Justice on 9 January 2026.
Justice Revati P. Mohit Dere of the Bombay High Court has been recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court following the transfer of the incumbent Chief Justice, Justice Soumen Sen.
The collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Sena as Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on the retirement of the Chief Justice on January 9.
Justice MS Sonak of the Bombay High Court was also recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on the retirement of the incumbent on January 8.
Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque of the Kerala High Court has been nominated as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
Finally, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo of the Orissa High Court was recommended as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
