After the Lokpal rejected a complaint against him, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday hit out at the Congress, saying it was its duty to expose the “misdeeds” of the opposition party.
Terming the charges against Dubey as “frivolous” and “vexatious”, the Lokpal said the complainant – former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur – had failed to make any case to convince him to take action against the BJP leader over allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets.
In a post in Hindi on X, Dubey said, “I will not be silenced. I am an ordinary BJP worker. I am lucky that BJP made me a member of parliament during PM Modiji’s tenure. It is my duty to expose the wrongdoings of the Congress party to the people.”
“Satyamev Jayate” (truth alone wins), he said.
He said the Lokpal had delivered a verdict on the “false allegations” leveled against him and his family.
“The Hon’ble Lokpal has directed me to file a case against these persons in the judiciary or in the Lok Sabha for damaging the reputation of my family on the basis of these false allegations,” he added.
What Lokpal said in his order
In its 134-page order issued on Tuesday, the Lokpal said, “The allegations leveled against the RPS (Respondent Public Servant) are frivolous and vexatious, including that the complainant indulges in anything.”
Lucknow-based Thakur, who is also the national president of the Azad Adhikar Sena, had filed a complaint against Dubey in May last year, alleging that he had acquired disproportionate assets through him.
As the matter progressed, the complainant, who relied on the affidavits filed by Dubey during the 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024 elections, further improvised his complaint, taking cognizance of the order of the Lokpal bench headed by its chairman Justice AM Khanwilkar.
In his complaint, Thakur alleged that while the movable and immovable assets of Dubey remained more or less constant during the period, “his wife Mrs. Anamika Gautam increased by leaps and bounds”.
Dubey, who dismissed the complaint as unfounded, denied all the allegations in his reply.
