The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bangladesh on Thursday, July 17, confirmed that the assets in Mymenshingh, which is demolished, has no links to the well -known filmmaker Satyajit Ray or his grandfather, a significant UPENDRA Kishhor Ray Chowdhury. In the middle of a discussion on the reports that the Bangladeshi authorities were ready to demolish the building of the “orientation” building in Mymensingh – with India even offering assistance in renewal – the Bangladesh government quoted archive records to clarify that assets actually belong to the local Zamindar, Shashikant Achary Chowdhura.
The Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry said in its statement: “A detailed investigation of archival records was reaffirmed that the house in question had never had any relationship with the ancestors of the respected Laurear Satyajit Ray. He was built for his employees by the local Zamindar Shashikant Achary Chowdhury.”
“After the cancellation of the Zamindari system, it was under control of the government. The government later assigned it to the Bangladeshi Shishu Academy. Since then, the House has been used as the Office of the District Shishu Academy. And the land itself has been a non -German government (Khas) and rented Shishu the academy.”
The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that after reviewing land records, it is now confirmed that the country belongs to the government and has no connection with the Ray family.
“Local older citizens and respected individuals from different communities have also confirmed that there is no known historical connection between the Ray family and the house and the land that is currently rented by Shishu Academy.
He also added that the “Harika Ray Road” road in front of the house is named after the great -grandfather of Harikisure Ray Satyajita Ray, the adoptive parent of the grandfather Satyajita Ray Ubendra Kishhor Ray Chowdhury.
“The Ray family had a house on Harikishore Ray Road, which they have sold long ago, so there is no longer existed. The new owner built a multi -storey building there,” he said.
“Professor Bimal Kanti Dey, a renowned member of the civil society in Mymenshingh, shared more details about the incorrect perception of the house belonging to the Ray family. Continue without delay.”
