Deputy Commissioner Kumar inspected the historic Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha in Maddur taluk on December 19 in connection with the preparation of a comprehensive development plan for the monument.
Associated with India’s freedom struggle, Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha has been sanctioned by the government with a grant of ₹ 2 crore for its conservation and overall development. The Deputy Commissioner on inspection directed the concerned officials to take up the proposed works in accordance with the prescribed instructions and ensure their timely execution.
These works include repairing toilets in the outbuilding, drilling a well, installing name plaques and stone slabs, constructing an arched gate, painting the Satyagraha Soudha, leveling low-lying areas in the compound and laying interlocking paving.
Other proposed works include construction of a compound wall around the purified drinking water unit, installation of iron gates, required stands and seven portraits depicting freedom fighters, besides deployment of security guards in the premises.
The development plan also proposes to construct an extension building to showcase information about the Shivapura freedom struggle, the freedom movement across the state and the country and screen documentaries on Mahatma Gandhi. It was also proposed to revive the musical fountain in the grounds.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to take up the work on priority while maintaining the quality standards and complete it within the stipulated time frame.
