Satwiksairaj Randireddy and Chirag Shetty, one of the most reliable double duo in India, got their campaign for a smooth beginning. A couple, in the 15th place in the world, defeated the South Korean Kang Min Hyuk and Kim Dong Ju 21-18, 21-10 in a match that lasted 42 minutes. Although the opening game saw some stiff resistance, the Indians quickly found the groove and took control. In the second game they looked firmly command and performed clinical performance to close the match without much stir.
The win is timely support for Satwik and Chirag, who are trying to regain the highest form into a wrapped calendar full of Olympic qualification events and tournaments with high betting.
In the men’s singles Lakeshya dream gave Indian fans something that would cheer with a convincing victory over the Chinese Wang Zheng Xing. The 22-year-old man who endured the run of early ascents this season looked sharp and folded when he won 21-11, 21-18. Lakeshya dominated the opening game and soon built a big lead. Although it turned out that the second game was more competitive, the Indian shutter kept his head start with a controlled shot and stable nerves at key moments.
The victory offers lakesyu flash of renewed trust that has been looking for a consistency in the last few months. His other rival is the seventh seed and home -made Kodai Naraoka – a hard match that tests its appearance and mental power.
Indian early results in Tokyo indicate a positive start, but strict tests lie ahead of us when the Super 750 event collects momentum.
