Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi is well suited to take charge of a brand of politics that is based on a liberal and secular ideology, Karnataka MLA and CM Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra Siddaramaiah said in Belagavi on Wednesday (Oct 22, 2025).
Soon after, he clarified that he was not naming Congress leader Mr. Jarkiholi as Mr. Siddaramaiah’s successor, nor did he indicate that he should replace him in the next term. “I was not talking about my father’s political successor. I was only talking about the ideological leadership of the party. I also have no intention of suggesting changes in the leadership of the party or the government in the near future. I was referring to the 2028 elections,” he told reporters in Belagavi.
When asked, he said that the party high command will decide on the next CM. “Congress ideology is based on liberal and progressive values. There are several leaders who have such beliefs and who aspire to become CM. It is up to the party high command to select the right leader,” he said.

He also dismissed as rumours, claims of a November revolution in Karnataka state politics where there would be a change of CM. “Nothing like this will ever happen. These are the claims of some people. They are baseless. Any such change will be decided by the party legislators and the high command. But there is no discussion on the CM change yet,” Jathindra said.

He has built his political life on a liberal and progressive ideology. Since Satish Jarkiholi is also a leader who believes and lives by these ideologies, he can continue to provide leadership to those who believe in such ideologies, who do not have many such ideology. urging him to provide leadership to all who share a liberal and progressive ideology,” the Congress MLA said.
