Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan has promised support in getting a prosthetic arm to nine-year-old Vinodini from Pallassana in Palakkad, whose right hand was amputated following alleged medical negligence.
He said necessary arrangements would be made, including financial assistance, to get her a prosthetic arm after encountering media reports that she was not attending school due to her condition. Mr Satheesan said he had spoken to her parents and assured them of all support.
The girl was initially treated at the Palakkad Government District Hospital on September 24 last year for a broken arm, but her condition worsened leading to amputation at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode. The incident sparked controversy, with the girl’s parents alleging medical negligence by doctors at the district hospital. The hospital management denied the allegations.
