Captain Rajasthan Royals Sanju Samson reportedly submitted an application for transfer before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. He is Samson, who has led the franchise since 2021, it is understood to seek a departure from the team.
The development follows the 2025 campaign for Royals, who finished ninth in the point table. Samson performed only in nine matches during the season due to hand injury. Reports of tearing between Samson and head coach Rahul Dravid, who returned to Royals after his Stint with the Indian national team, emerged in the same period.
In their super loss to Delhi Capitals 16. April fans noted that Samson’s body language was gone. A few claimed that he was missing in the team’s fleece, and he seemed not to interest in the interests while interacting with the fervid.
Speculation grew so intense that the fervid dealt with this matter publicly. On April 18, before the Royals match against Lucknow Super Giants, he denied any disagreement.
“I don’t know where these messages come from. We are on the same page. Sanju is an integral part of the decision -making and I have a very good relationship with it. It is involved in every discussion and decision. These are unfounded things,” David said at a press conference.
According to Cricbuzz, however, Samson is now re-evaluating his future with the franchise, mainly due to the rise of the dynamic opening duo-yashasvi Jaiswal and fourteen-year-old VAIBHAV SURYAVANSHI. With SuryavANShi’s origin, Samson was pushed on Slot 3 last season, a position that allegedly reluctant to last.
While Royals has not yet received serious offers for Samson – left for 18 crore – his request for trade signals a significant shift before IPL 2026.
