The leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) and MP Rajya Sabha Sanjay banquet on Sunday (July 20, 2025) launched a blister attack on Devendra Fadnavis’s Special Public Security Act of Maharashtra, 2024, claiming to be a direct threat to civil freedoms and democratic statements.
Mr. Raut, who wrote in his weekly column of the Remhhok in the Nauduku side of Saaman, described the legislation as a tool created for public security, but served political and corporate interests. “It is not a law on Jan Surraksha, it is BJP Surraksha Bill,” he wrote, claiming that the government was in a hurry through the law through the legislature without a reasonable debate.
According to Mr. Rute, the bill – during the recently terminated monsoon meeting of the Assembly – Grants swept the powers to the police and the government to arrest the individual for the actions of which it is assumed that it is disrupted by the “public order”, the sentence he said is intentionally vague and susceptible to abuse. He warned that non -governmental organizations, groups of civil society, tribal activists and those opposed to large business projects such as Gautam Adani mining operations have spread from Chandrapur to the forests of Chhattisgarh and Jharkand.
The Mahashtra 10. July 2025 Assembly passed a special Maharashtra Public Security Act, 2024, which aimed to prevent “illegal activities of extremist left wing or similar groups”. The bill will now be submitted to the Legislative Council.
“I assure the house that we will not allow abuse of this law. I ask the house to unanimously handed over this law,” the Main Minister Devendra Fadnavis submitted.
Despite the opposition of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the objections of other parties, the speaker Rahul Narvekar said that the law voting by voice was approved by most.
With the passage of the law in both houses, Mahashtra will become the fifth state after Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to enable the Public Security Act. The law imposes penalties between two and seven years of imprisonment for members of illegal organizations. Criminal actions under the law will be considered to be a chagnicable and incapable nature and will grant the government to entertain and lose funds belonging to these groups.
Mr. Raut further criticized the government’s intention for the bill and stated that it was aimed at silent protests in areas such as Dharavi, where residents resist remediation and displacement. “The Dharavi Rehabilitation project is the largest fraud in the world. The indigenous people will be exploited from their legitimate place and leaders who fight for their rights will be marked as” urban naxal “and imprisoned according to the act. The column said.
The banquet emphasized the double standards of the ruling coalition and asked why the government closed their eyes to hateful manifestations and violent acts by right -wing elements, while trying to criminalize disagreement from marginalized communities and activists. He also accused the government of using the law as an excuse to consolidate power before the upcoming civil elections, especially in Mumbai. “The law is used to intimidate those who dare to speak against the regime or its business allies,” he said.
“Such laws are attacking the soul of democracy. If this law becomes law, it will be a dark day for the Maharashtra,” he added.
