(NOT a photo) NEW DELHI: Former India cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar has backed Ishan Kishan to continue as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad even after the expected return of Pat Cummins, citing the batsman’s tactical clarity and ability to control under pressure.Cummins, who is expected to return to the side after recovering from a stress reaction in his lower back, missed the start of the season and Kishan has stepped in as captain for all seven matches so far. While the Australian’s return is a boost, Bangar believes continuity in management could serve the franchise better.

He understands which bowlers to use against which batsmen. It’s a clear indicator of how well he controls the game. He doesn’t look clustered, he’s not rushed and he takes the right challenges on the field,” Bangar told Star Sports.

“Continuity is key for SRH”Bangar pointed to Kishan’s decisions on the field, particularly his handling of the spinners in the win over Delhi Capitals, as proof of his growing leadership maturity.“The way he used his spinners against DC was impressive. All in all, I believe that even if Pat Cummins comes back, Ishan should continue to lead SRH. Having an Indian captain brings consistency more often than not. You can’t be sure how fit a bowler of Pat Cummins’ caliber will stay for the rest of the IPL, considering the ailments he has been dealing with,” he added.

Should Ishan Kishan continue as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad even after the return of Pat Cummins?
Bangar emphasized that stability in leadership could be key in the second half of the tournament. “Ishan continuing to lead the charge gives great continuity to the players. That would be the way to go for Hyderabad.”Regular skipper Cummins is expected to return to the Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Saturday.
