The Fruit Research Center at Sangareddy distributes nearly 2,00,000 seedlings to farmers every year in an effort to promote a bountiful harvest in horticulture.
At the Centre’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Sangareddy District Horticulture Officer P. Someshwar Rao said mangoes are grown in around 16,000 acres in the district.
Director Horticulture and Sericulture Department Shaik Yasmeen Basha, who was the chief guest at the celebrations, urged the farmers to take advantage of government schemes to increase the range of crops.
The celebrations coincided with the Mango Diversity Show. Farmers from Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet participated.
