Malaysalalam film producer Sandra Thomas arrived on Saturday (July 26, 2025) to the Association of Film Producers Association in Kochi, who was wearing Purdah to submit a nomination document for elections to the Executive Body Committee scheduled for August 14th.
She competes for the post of president in the middle of her lengthy tearing with the current guidance of the association. She said that Purdah was the safest option to visit a space dominated by men for a long time.
She said she would be part of the panel that would attack the election against current leadership. This will include women and producers who wanted to give a positive change, she said.
The rupture between her and the association has expanded after she wrote a letter of the Executive Committee, which accuses the offices wearers for their silence to find out the report of the Committee on the issues that women face in the Malaysian film industry. She also raised accusations of misconduct against the current wearers of the office.
The Executive Committee excluded it from the primary membership of the Association in November 2024 for accusing the violation of disciplinary standards. In December 2024, the decision of KFPA was to suspend the producer from her primary membership.
