On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump reportedly urged the European Union officials to hit China with up to 100% in an effort to push Russian President Vladimir Putin, the US official and EU diplomat.
According to Reuters, Trump also encouraged the European Union to slap India with similarly extensive tariffs, said an official who asked for anonymity to discuss private interviews.
China and India are the main buyers of Russian oil and, as such, play an essential role in maintaining the Russian economy above the water because it continues its widespread invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022.
Trump submitted an application, which was mediated by a conference call, an ambassador of the EU sanction David O’Sullivan and other EU officials. The EU delegation is currently in Washington to discuss the coordination of sanctions.
The EU diplomat said the US indicated that it was willing to save similar tariffs if the European Union follows the US application.
“They basically say: We’ll do it, but you have to do it with us,” the diplomat said.
The US application, if compliance, would result in a change in the EU strategy that prefers to isolated Russia with sanctions rather than tariffs.
Trump, whose application was first announced by the Financial Times, often threatened to save tariffs in India and China for punishment for buying Russian oil.
While Trump in India, in India, in India, in India, was partially partly due to its economic relationship with the Kremlin, Trump must pull the trigger to more punishment that floated.
Occasionally, Europe itself complained that Europe itself was not fully arising from Russia, which last year supplied about 19% of the import of EU gas, although the block says it is determined to fully end its dependence on Russian energy.
Later on Tuesday, Trump suggested that the US can actually support India trade and write in the evening social media that the US and India are working on dealing with business obstacles among nations. He added that he is looking forward to an interview with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modim.
