Nagarjuna Sagar, a key tourist destination in the Macharle election district in the Palnad district in Andhra Pradesh, is ready to get a facelift with the central government, which for its development is sanctioned by Crore 25 GBP.
The funds were assigned within the initiative “Development Development based on a call” in the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 system, the official orders issued by the Central Government states.
The aim of this initiative is to enrich the Buddhist heritage and cultural monuments of the region and at the same time strengthen the infrastructure of tourism.
The government Andr Pradesh has submitted a detailed proposal to the Mission Directorate and sought financial assistance for the development of Nagarjun Sagar as a prominent tourist destination. After a thorough evaluation, the proposal was approved by the Central Committee for Sanction and Monitoring.
In the pipeline
Thanks to the penalty funds, Nagarjuna Sagar will witness an improvement in infrastructure, including the development of Buddhist themed gardens and inheritance structures, the establishment of organic-tooelet with compartment devices and the installation of CCTV cameras and other safety systems.
The specialized tourism website and the online ticket sales platform along with a 3D hologram system and live interactive touch screens will also be launched.
Training and sensitization workshops will be carried out and green parks will be created to improve environmental balance.
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will supervise the project implementation that is scheduled to complete within one year.
Narasaraopet MP Sri Krishna’s Devarayal played a key role by joining the authorities in order to ensure consent.
He said that this funding would significantly increase Nagarjuna Sagar’s tourism potential.
Macharla Mla Julakanti Brahm Reddy welcomed the development and stressed that an effort would be made to ensure the rapid and efficient implementation of the project.
