Samrat Choudhary announces health screening for 6 million people in Bihar by November 30

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday (September 2, 2026) announced that health screening of 6 million people of Bihar will be done so that citizens have digital health records.
He announced this while launching the Jaanch evam Upchar – Chikitsa Aapke Dwar (Testing and Treatment – Medical Care at Your Doorstep) campaign in all 38 districts by flagging off the fighting vehicles.
The Bihar government has set a target for screening during this campaign, which will run from September 2 to November 30, 2026. The aim of the campaign is to ensure early detection and treatment of diseases rather than waiting for conditions to become severe.
“Get tested so you don’t get sick in the first place. Early detection is essential for proper and effective treatment,” said Mr. Choudhary said.
As part of this campaign, citizens over the age of 30 will undergo a health screening and health workers will conduct door-to-door primary checks and consultations; patients will be provided treatment facilities from “Ayushman Arogya Mandirs” to District Hospitals as required. The campaign will include screening for diabetes, hypertension, common cancers, heart disease, respiratory and lung diseases and fatty liver.
He said the campaign was launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, with the initiative being overseen by state health minister Nishant Kumar in Bihar.
The mayor added that health services are continuously being strengthened and patient referrals from hospitals have decreased, while the number of operations performed in district hospitals has increased.
“The number of surgeries performed has increased from 2,428 in June to more than 8,000 this month. The spectrum of surgeries performed in district and district hospitals has expanded from 36 types of diseases to 45. Thus, patients are getting better medical facilities,” he said. Choudhary said.
He mentioned that an anemia screening campaign is also underway with the goal of screening 1 million people. In addition, the aim is to screen 6 million people in Bihar and create their health records. Mr. Choudhary claimed that medical records will be digitally secured to ensure their effective use in treatment whenever required.
“The aim is to ensure the health of the entire family, including children, youth and women. Everyone should cooperate in this campaign and seek treatment for any diseases to ensure timely care. We appeal to the citizens of the state to actively participate in this campaign and ensure that family members above the age of 30 undergo health check-ups,” he said. Choudhary said.
He added that “Mission Kayakalp” would be launched to further strengthen primary health care services. Through this initiative, the facilities of Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Additional Primary Health Centers (APHCs) and sub-centres will be modernized and improved, ensuring that people have access to quality health services close to their homes.
