The IndiGo fiasco, which has caused thousands of flight cancellations and delays across India, entered its seventh day on Monday, December 8. While the airline attributed the disruption to crew shortages and scheduling issues, comedian Samay Raina hilariously poked fun at IndiGo, blaming the ‘panoti’ guy from India’s Got Latent instead.
In the now-viral video, Samay is seen sitting comfortably on an IndiGo flight casually checking his phone. Everything in the video looked ordinary until the comedian noticed a man boarding the plane – contestant from the infamous India’s Got Latent, Monal Kohli.
In a joint video with Habitat Studios founder Balraj, Ghai Kohli awkwardly walked past Samay Raina with a smile and a polite wave when the comedian had a sudden flashback – Samay saw the contestant saying, “Yaad karo”.
Samay immediately recalled Kohli’s first appearance on the satirical show when he claimed that a strange coincidence haunted him since childhood – wherever he went, be it his nursery or workplace, things mysteriously closed.
Kohli said this pattern has continued throughout his life – first with the satirical show and now with IndiGo.
The viral video was then cut to screenshots noting the sudden suspension of IndiGo’s flight operations.
The Gurugram-based airline, part-owned by Rahul Bhatia, has faced fire from the government and passengers since December 2 for canceling hundreds of flights, citing regulatory changes in new flight duties and pilot regulatory standards that have left thousands of passengers stranded at airports across India.
For the first three days, the airline did not acknowledge the huge number of cancellations and only on Friday canceled 1,600 flights (Friday), a record in the history of Indian aviation, when CEO Elbers released a video apologizing for the great inconvenience caused to passengers due to the disruption.
Who is Monal Kohli, the ‘crazy’ man?
In an episode of India’s Got Latent, Monal Kohli told Samay Raina that wherever he goes, he brings a trail of “badnaseebi” or bad luck.
Describing himself as “relieved”, Kohli said the children’s school he attended closed after he joined and another school he enrolled in also closed soon after.
