Samagra Shiksha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with People for Urban and Rural Education (PURE) to implement the PURE FEMME program in around 8,000 high schools, including Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) in Andhra Pradesh.
The MoU was signed by State Project Director Samagra Shiksha B. Srinivasa Rao and PURE Founder and CEO Shaila Talluri on Saturday. Around 8 lakh adolescent girls across the state are expected to benefit from this initiative.
The program aims to conduct structured workshops and awareness sessions for 6th to 10th grade female students on menstrual hygiene (MHM), health, wellness and personal safety.
Mr. Rao said the initiative reflects the State Government’s commitment to holistic education and gender equality under Samagra Shiksha. He said the partnership with PURE was a step towards empowering adolescent girls through health education. It also supports the government’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly good health and well-being, quality education and gender equality.
