Salman Ali Agha sacked; PCB names Asian Games silver medalist captain as Pakistan’s new T20I captain
Sahibzada Farhan and Salman Ali Agha (Photo Agency) Pakistan have made a change in their T20I leadership with Sahibzada Farhan naming a new captain for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka after leading the country to a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games.The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the squads for the Sri Lanka T20I and the subsequent ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. Salman Ali Agha, who had earlier led Pakistan in T20Is, has been left out of the squad while he retains his place in the ODI set-up.Farhan’s appointment comes after he led Pakistan’s Asian Games campaign where the team won the silver medal after suffering a 19-run defeat to India in the gold clash.
Farhan takes charge of the T20I side
Farhan will captain the 15-member squad in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with all three matches to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Salman retains his ODI berth while Shaheen continues as captain
While Pakistan opted for a leadership change in T20Is, there is continuity in the ODI setup. The Sri Lanka series kicks off Pakistan’s white-ball campaign
Pakistan will begin their upcoming assignments with a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.

- October 11: 2nd T20I – Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
- October 13: 3rd T20I – Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
England and Sri Lanka join Pakistan for an ODI tri-series
The T20I series will be followed by a seven-match ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin in Rawalpindi before moving to Lahore for the final four matches including the final.
