The death toll from Tuesday’s (April 14, 2026) boiler tube blast at a power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district rose to 20 on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), while 16 others remain hospitalized, a senior police officer said.
By late Tuesday evening, 14 workers were reported dead. The deceased included six workers from West Bengal and five from Chhattisgarh, while the rest were from Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, said Prafull Thakur, Superintendent of Police, Sakti.
