Lifelong members of Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Shivamogg opposed the changes proposed for the Parishat Regulation, which state that they would support the dictatorial rule in the organization.
At a press conference in Shivamogg on Thursday, the life members were hunted by Chandrashekhar, KP Sripal, B. Chandre Gowd, Puttaiah and others said that President Parishat Mahesh Joshi proposed changes to increase his forces of the basic principles of democracy.
“The general body, which is to be held on April 27, was postponed because of the opposition. Now the same has been scheduled for 22 June. We will be against changes to strengthen presidential powers,” Chandrashekhar said.
Mr. Chandrashekhar said that Mr. Joshi wanted to take the Executive Committee and to keep all administrative powers with him. “We recall all lifelong members to oppose these changes. We will also support a meeting that people from Mandya convened on May 17th in this matter,” he said.
Mr. Chandrashekhar also called on the state government to explore the financial transactions of Parishat. In the organization of Sahitya Sammelana in Mandyi, there was a charge of abuse of funds.
