Following the recent leopard attack on a devotee, the Chamarajanagar district administration announced on January 24 that padayatra and movement of two-wheelers to Male Mahadeshwara Hills (MM Hills) would be allowed only between 7 am and 4 pm. Movement after these hours is prohibited.
The decision was made in the interest of public safety. The restriction will take effect from January 25 and will remain in effect until further orders.
Deputy Commissioner Shreerup appealed to the devotees and general public to cooperate with the district administration and refrain from padayatra or traveling on two-wheelers to MM Hills during prohibited hours.
