Former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president N. Vasu and former Sabarimala administrative officer B. Murari Babu have approached the Kerala High Court seeking bail in a case related to the alleged misappropriation of gold from the Sabarimala temple.
Their bail pleas were rejected by the investigating court commissioner and special judge, Kollam. They were charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and also under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to the arrest report, Mr. Vasu described the temple’s door frame as covered with copper plates instead of gold-plated copper plates, after which it was handed over to businessman Unnikrishnan Potti for “repairs”.
Mr. Vasu refuted the allegations and said he did nothing intentionally except to pass on the “message” he received from his subordinate officers to the board for consideration. He added that he never recommended that the decision be made in a particular way.
