Sabarimala e-auction details leak: TDB suspends director

The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has suspended a senior official in connection with the alleged leak of confidential tender details related to the e-auction of 110 shops in Sabarimala.

The official, identified as Rejimon, was suspended after a preliminary investigation found that tender details were leaked to contractors from his mobile phone. The Board has introduced a system of e-tendering and e-auctions to ensure greater transparency in allotment of trades. However, the trial was canceled at the last minute following allegations of misconduct.

A preliminary investigation confirmed that some board officials took photographs of confidential tender details on their mobile phones and passed them on to regular contractors after the tender deadline. The alleged wrongdoing came to light after a new contractor participating in the tender process received a threatening message on his phone.

Officials said further action would be taken if the investigation found more people involved in the leak.

Scrap collection

Meanwhile, TDB has decided to enter into an agreement with Clean Kerala Company to collect metal waste from Sabarimala and Pampa. The board also canceled a recent auction to remove scrap from two sites after several complaints about the process.

The decision to hand over the scrap to the Clean Kerala Company comes after the government recently issued an order allowing the company to collect metal waste from Sabarimala.
