The Sports Authority of AP (SAAP) will launch a state-level chess event as part of the SAAP league on February 21 at the Sri Srinivasa Sports Complex in Tirupati.
According to a press release, on February 17, 2,445 chess players participated in the district exams across the state and 360 made it to the main round. The winners of the district level competitions will compete in four age categories under 19, 17, 15 and 13 on February 21.
Two-time World Women’s Rapid Chess Champion Konera Humpy wished the participants all the best, noting that the competitive platforms provide young players with the experience and confidence needed to excel at higher levels.
SAAP Vice-Chairman and Managing Director S. Bharani said the SAAP League is committed to providing ongoing opportunities for young athletes to grow, compete and perform.
