Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenky said on Monday that they were ready to conduct direct conversations to end the conflict between the two countries.
Zelsky, who spoke soon after his meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, said he was willing to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin directly to end the invasion of his country.
“I confirmed – and all European leaders supported me – that we were ready for a bilateral meeting with Putin,” the Ukrainian media outside the White House said.
Zeletskyy said, “We are ready” at any meeting at the level of the leader. He said it was the only way to solve these “complicated and painful problems”.
Meanwhile, Putin said that the “idea” of direct conversations with Ukraine was opened when Donald Trump’s counterpart, according to TASS, spoke with us on Monday.
“Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump expressed their support to continue the direct negotiations between Russia’s delegations and Ukraine,” said Aide Yuri Ushakov, as Tass quoted.
“Especially in this respect, this idea was discussed that it would be necessary to study the possibility to increase the level of representatives of Ukrainian and Russian parties, ie those representatives who participate in the above -mentioned direct negotiations.”
After the White House interviews with President Volodymyr Zlensky and several European leaders Trump announced that he had called Putin and “launched” for a meeting between Ukrainian and Russian leaders.
However, no data has been set yet.
Multilateral interviews were hastily convened on Monday after Trump’s meeting with Putin at Alaska on August 15, which excluded other leaders. European political leaders joined discussions in Washington as they monitored the means to protect Ukraine and the continent from any expanding aggression from Moscow.
