The Kremlin responded to Foreign Minister Marco Rubio that Washington could soon “go” from the effort to mediate peace in Ukraine, insists that there has been a progress and Russia remains an open dialogue.
“Russia is trying to resolve this conflict, secure its own interests and is open to dialogue. We continue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday (April 18).
Although Peskov acknowledged that negotiations with Washington were “quite complex”, he stressed that they were taking place. “Contacts are quite complicated, because of course the topic is not easy,” he said.
No Trump-Putin Talks are scheduled but “Possible”
While the American involvement seems to be waving, the Kremlin has said that there are no planned conversations between President Vladimir Putin and former President Donald Trump. However, Peskov noted that the conversation can be organized quickly if necessary.
“The contacts between Putin and Trump are not planned for this week, but a conversation can be organized quickly if necessary,” he said.
The Kremlin fires Europe to “militarization”
Peskov also criticized the role of Europe in the ongoing conflict and claimed that European nations were not attempting peace. “There are no calls to peace from Europe – talking about militarization,” he said, commenting on the recent Paris summit.
Rubio: “We can just go on”
After high -level interviews in Paris with European and Ukrainian officials, Rubio suggested that the US would reach a turnover.
“Now we will reach a point where we have to decide whether it is possible at all or not,” Rubio said. “Because if this is not the case, then I think we’ll move on. It’s not our war. We have to focus on it.”
He added that the administration wants to make this decision “in a few days”.
A ceasefire as Russian strikes continue
The Kremlin confirmed that the temporary 30 -day ceasefire agreement has now failed by Washington. Peskov did not specify whether Russia would perform a new military event, but said the situation was evolving.
Meanwhile, Russia continued its strikes by Ukrainian cities. At least one person and 98 injured – including six children – included cluster ammunition. In the sum, the drone strike at the bakery killed the customer and injured the employees only a few days after killing a missile missile Sunday 34 civilians.
What will come next?
A new round of interviews is expected in London, and American and European officials hope to build on modest progress in Paris. However, Rubio warned that the next meeting could be “decisive” in determining the future of the US involvement.
