Russia said on Saturday that its forces had taken two villages in the area of eastern Ukraine Donetsk and increased military pressure when world leaders seek to arrange the end of the conflict.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the villages of Seredene and Kleban Byk were under Russian control after operations performed by southern and western groups of forces, Anadolu news agency reported.
The ministry also claimed that Russian forces were hit by the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and the temporary deployment of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign fighters in 143 seats.
In addition, Russian air defense successfully faced Ukrainian air attacks and shot down four led air bombs and 160 drones over the last week, Anadol Agency reported with quoting the Ministry of Defense.
This comes in the middle of peace talks between the two nations mediated by the US to end the war.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelskyy spoke to South African President Cyril Ramaphos and told him he was ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the X post, he said, “I spoke to the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphos, at his request. I informed about the joint diplomatic efforts with our partners and productive meetings with President Trump in Washington.”
“He reaffirmed his readiness for any format of meeting with the head of Russia. However, we see that Moscow is trying to pull everything even further. It is important that the global south sends relevant signals and pushes Russia to peace,” he added.
Meanwhile, the United States President Donald Trump restored the threat to Russia to impose sanctions if there is no progress towards peaceful settlement in Ukraine in two weeks, showing frustration in Moscow a week after his warm meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Alash. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there was no agenda for a potential summit between Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymymi Zelenskyy, accused of saying “not everything”, according to Al Jaseer.
