Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage amazed home -made Sachin Yadav to ensure direct qualification for the World Championship on Sunday 10th August. It was one and did it for Young Pathirage, who set the standard with his first first throwing event and landed a massive throw 86.50 meters.
This year, throwing him not only brought him a direct qualification for the World Athletics Championship, but also rolled in the field. Indian trio Sachin Yadav, Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav expected to perform well in this event, just could not catch up with the day.
It was the second time Rumesh got out in front of the Indian crowd. In July he participated in the classic Neer Chopra, where he packed the bronze medal. He crept in third place and passed around Sachin Yadav, who finished fourth.
Sachin, who is considered to be another big thing in the Indian javelin after Neera Chopra, fought from the very beginning in humid conditions of Bhubaneshware. At a press conference before Sachin, he revealed that he had suffered ankle injury in Classic Neera Chopra, which could now take his toll.
Continental Tour: Men’s Junes Order
- Rumesh Pathahge: 86.50 m
- Shivam Lokhare: 80.73 m
- With Ranaryinghe: 80.65 m
- Rohit Yadav: 80,35 m
- Sachin Yadav: 79.80 m
- Yashvir Singh: 78.53 m
The failure in the men’s spear was for the crowd Bummer, because this event was expected to be a puller. While men could not secure the highest place in Javelin, Indian Anna Rani, on Sunday showed signs of returning to a sensational form. Anna, freshly back from her highest show in Poland, showed that her first 60+m throw was no coincidence, by putting another stunning throw at the Kaling Stadium.
