The body of a woman who went missing in the Neyyar dam a day ago was recovered on Friday as part of a massive search operation led by a diving team.
The police identified the deceased as Sharanya from Nemom, who works as an office assistant at the Regional Transport Authority in Thampanoor.
Sharanya’s husband Cyril initially told the police that she was under a lot of mental stress after being denied a transfer. However, her relatives made serious allegations of domestic violence.
She is believed to have filed a police complaint against her husband earlier. Cyril allegedly subjected her to physical abuse under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that the death was related to harassment and abuse by her husband rather than work-related stress. She secured a place in the government 11 months ago.
