Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy took exception to the Congress government’s repeated references to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying the issue was “played up to divert attention from failures on the governance front”.
“RSS path sanchalans (route marches) have been happening for decades. The Congress government has brought this issue to the fore just to cover up its own failures. Banning RSS is impossible, so why waste time talking about them everyday?” he asked.
Advising the government to “stop politicking and focus on development,” Mr Kumaraswamy remarked, “For a while you focused on Dharmasthala. You created SIT and wasted time. Now Mahesh Shetty Timarodi has relief in one case. Nothing will come to a logical conclusion during the tenure of this government. You are simply losing time and you’re misleading people,” he claimed.
Reacting to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s remark that he never asks for grants from the Centre, Mr Kumaraswamy replied: “Why should I? People gave them 136 seats. When I was chief minister, I did not expect central funds to respond.”
