RPF helps 49 children reunite with their parents in May

The Railway Protection Corps (RPF), which is tasked with protecting railway property, passenger spaces and the well-being of passengers, helped 49 children reunite with their parents during the month of May.
According to South Western Railway (SWR), under Operation ‘NanheFaristheh’ – Rescue of Lost Children, RPF SWR played a key role in rescuing 49 children (37 boys, 12 girls). . The RPF rescued them and, with the help of NGOs and the police, allowed them to be reunited with their families.
As part of Operation Dignity, four elderly persons (3 men, 1 woman) in need of care and protection were rescued and handed over to their families after proper verification.
As part of the ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative aimed at women, RPF personnel ensured safe travel for single travelers and unaccompanied women. Currently, 32 Splecial, Mail and Express trains are covered under this initiative.
Intensive checks were carried out at various travel agencies and locations across Karnataka and Goa as part of Operation “Uplabdh” (suppression of promotion) to ensure fair availability of train tickets to genuine passengers and curb black marketing. During this action, according to Section 143 of the Railway Act, 37 pullers were detained in 36 cases. A total of 49 live tickets worth ₹1,53,620 and 263 used tickets worth ₹4,65,968 were seized.
In Operation Satark, RPF busted 7 cases of liquor, recovering 1,458 bottles (1,309 litres), consignments worth ₹83,31,457 and handed over the same to the Excise Department.
Eight cases were detected in the Narco operation which led to the seizure of 37 kg of ganja worth ₹33.80 lakh and 20 cartons containing 1,99,600 sticks of Korean brand cigarettes worth ₹30 lakh.
On 63 occasions, RPF personnel found items lost or left behind by passengers such as laptops, mobile phones, ornaments and other personal items worth ₹50.34 lakh and returned them to their rightful owners.
