
A woman who tried to abduct an infant and tried to board a train to leave the city was caught in the nick of time by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Mysuru on Wednesday.
The child was handed over to the parents. The accused, identified as Nandini, of Pension Mohalla in Hassan, was nabbed and was handed over to the railway police. The case was registered under various sections of BNS. She was later remanded in judicial custody.
According to authorities, the RPF, CM Nagaraju, spotted the woman in distress near the portico of the Mysuru railway station and interrogated her. The woman informed the RPF that she slept with other family members and found the child missing when she woke up.
Mr. Nagaraju alerted other employees who immediately started examining the CCTV footage and found that a woman carrying a child was rushing towards platform number 6 and trying to board train number 16206.
The RPF team rushed to the platform, apprehended the suspect, brought her to the Mysuru RPF post and informed the parents. Authorities said Dinesh Kumar, Inspector, RPF, Mysuru, conducted additional investigation, conducted CCTV camera analysis and conclusively proved that the said woman had attempted to abduct the child.
