Former India Cricter RP Singh raised his eyebrows over the fourth test against England’s eyebrows over Yashasvi Jaiswal’s cautious approach, suggesting that the young opener missed the opportunity to be more aggressive. While he recognizes the disciplined tact of English pitch -offs, Singh believes that Jaiswal has been able to attract a more attacking approach from the beginning to make the most of favorable conditions.
Jaiswal began his shifts by scoring only 20 runs from the first 64 balls he faced. Although he later accelerated and added another 38 escapes out of 43 balls, Singh felt that the opening batsman was too reserved early.
England vs India, 2. Test, update on 2 day
“Jaiswal left a lot of vans he could drive as soon as he got, he started playing with more intention, but I think he could attack more from the beginning. England came up with better bowling plans, focused on these areas, but Jaiswal could play more actively.” Singh pointed to Jaiswal’s ability to score backward and third, especially short -term supplies outside the foot.
While Singh acknowledged that Jaiswal had shown discipline by not pursuing supplies outside his off-road, he felt that the opener could do more to push through.
“When he plays with more attacking thinking, runs come easier. I think there was a slight change in his approach and I’m not sure if it was the right one,” Singh added.
Saba Karim sees maturity in Jaiswal’s Knock
While RP Singh questioned Jaiswal’s cautious approach, former Indian goalkeeper Saba Karim had a more favorable view of knocking a young opening. Karim suggested that Jaiswal’s slower start was more of a sign of maturity than a lack of trust.
“The thing I liked at Jaiswal was that even though he was beaten, he didn’t know the ball. He showed good control, it was ripe knocking. We didn’t see the usual aggressive Jaiswal, but I saw it as a development in his game.” Karim said.
Karim appreciated how Jaiswal adapted to the conditions and acknowledged the importance of playing in himself. “It was a development during his launch. He didn’t follow the ball, waited for the right moment,” Karim concluded.
For the opening goal with Kl Rahul, Jaiswal added 94 runs, while Rahul took the lead in a partnership. While Singh demanded a more aggressive approach, Karim considered Jaiswal’s disciplined shift as a step towards maturity and growth.
