Rowdy-sheeter arrested for demanding ₹20,000 from man in Hyderabad

Attapur police arrested a 25-year-old miscreant for breaking into a house, holding a knife to a man’s neck and demanding ₹20,000 in Hyderabad’s Hasan Nagar area.

The accused has been identified as Syed Mohammed alias Chango, a laborer and auto driver and a resident of NTR Nagar. The police said the accused has a case of disorderly conduct against him at Attapur police station and was earlier involved in several property, body and NDPS related cases.

The incident took place on September 4 at around 8pm when Muhammad entered the house of Noor Jahan Begum and held a knife to the neck of her son Abdul Rehman. He demanded ₹20,000 and threatened to kill Rehman if he did not pay the money. When Noor Jahan tried to intervene, he threatened her with a knife and continued to demand money.

Eyewitnesses tried to catch Muhammad, but he managed to escape. On September 13, the complainant approached the Attapur police station and lodged a complaint. The police have registered a case under Sections 308(4), 329(4) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act.

The accused was arrested within 12 hours in a joint operation by the Attapur Police and the Rajendranagar Area Task Force. Four knives and a mobile phone were seized from his property.
