Musheerabad police arrested a rowdy shopkeeper for allegedly attempting to murder a 25-year-old delivery boy near Parsigutta on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Kokku Stephen alias Kokku David Stephen, 23, a resident of Musheerabad. The complainant has been identified as Surya Anil, 25, who suffered bleeding injuries to his neck and elbows in the attack.
According to the police, the incident took place around 5:40 pm in Parsigutta when Stephen allegedly attacked the complainant with a sharp blade and later assaulted him with a wooden stick. The complainant managed to escape and approached the Musheerabad police after which he was taken to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
“Stephen and Surya knew each other for several years and that the attack was a result of a long-standing grudge. The enmity is said to have stemmed from an incident in March 2024 when an argument broke out between the complainant and the accused’s mother at the house of the accused, which led to a case being registered at that time,” a police officer from Musheeraborebad and gru against him said then.
On February 8, under the pretext of settling the dispute through a mutual acquaintance, the accused sought out the complainant’s place and attacked him upon arrival. The accused was later arrested by the police.
