Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), a prominent pro-Kannada organisation, has announced that it will stage a protest at Freedom Park on Monday, condemning Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for his office’s writing to the government regarding the marking and non-marking of third language papers in the SSLC examination. The letter stated that “the Governor has taken cognizance of the matter and wishes that the matter be investigated comprehensively”.
President TA Narayana Gowda, KRV, in an open letter to the governor condemned the move by the governor’s office and highlighted the difference between the constitutional role of the governor and the executive authority of the elected government. “Education policy is entirely within the purview of the state government, and when an elected government with a clear majority has operated effectively, you have neither the moral authority nor the constitutional responsibility to interfere in day-to-day administration,” he said in the letter.
