
The High Court in Kerala sought the attitude of the Ministry of the Environment, Forests and Climate Changes (MOEF) on the Ropeway project in Sabarimale.
In the Suo Mot action admitted on the basis of the findings submitted by the Bar Association, the bench of the justice of V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and the justice KV Jayakumar, they were looking for details such as the feasibility of Ropeway construction that would go through Periyar Tiger Reserve.
The proposal caused several environmental concerns. The court orally raised concerns about the practicality and necessity of the project and added that there was no clarity on the route and impact on the environment.
While no trees for the cable car system were cut in Palani, the court said the Sabarimals case was different.
