The opposition leader at Thrissur Corporation Rajan J. Pallan and the leader EV Sunilraj filed a formal complaint against the Human Rights Commission in Keral (Shrc), who recently demanded legal steps against officials responsible for the collapse of the roof certificate from the building owned by Thrissur Corporation.
The incident occurred on May 23, followed by heavy rain and impact wind. The metal roof, installed on a multi -storey building owned by a company, was in a dangerously unstable condition from April 22 due to a storm. Although they were aware of the risk, officials have not taken any preventive measures for more than a month, the complainants claimed. No one was injured, but it was purely because of happiness, the opposition leaders emphasized.
15 days after the incident, the Corporation Council led by the LDF did not accept against responsible measures, Mr. Pallan said. The official involved in construction work is a well -known sympathizer of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)), and thus inactivity, he added.
“Dangerous buildings”
He further criticized the corporation for not destroying structurally dangerous buildings and accusing the leadership of CPI (m) to try to protect negligent officials. The opposition warned that if such an effort continued, the protests inside and outside the council would escalate.
“We will not accept the mayor or the ruling council that threatens the lives of citizens,” Pallan said.
