Roland Garros Day 8 Order of Play: Djoker-slayer Fonseca back for Round 4 and beyond

Day eight of Roland Garros brings massive fourth round matches to Paris. Top players Alexander Zverev and Iga Swiatek look to dominate, while teenage star Joo Fonseca faces Casper Ruud in the lights.

Action begins at 2:30 PM IST on Court Philippe-Chatrier, World No. 3 Iga Swiatek faces a tough challenge from 15th seed Marty Kostyuk. Swiatek wants to control the clay, but Kostyuk’s aggressive game makes this an exciting opener. Next up on the main court, seventh seed Elina Svitolina takes on veteran Belinda Bencic in a tight battle of the top 15 players.

The afternoon session ends with second seed Alexander Zverev against Jesper De Jong, scheduled for 15:30 IST at the earliest. Zverev is a heavy favorite to advance, but De Jong is playing with a lot of confidence and will be looking to cause a big upset on clay.

The biggest match of the day takes place under lights and starts at 20:15 IST at the earliest. Fresh off his stunning upset of Novak Djokovic, teenage star and 28th seed Joo Fonseca takes on 15th seed Casper Ruud. Ruud is a proven specialist on clay and a former finalist, but faces a massive test against Fonseca’s fearless attacking game.

On Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the future of the women’s game takes center stage as 8th seed Mirra Andreeva plays Jil Teichmann. This match is followed by a tough men’s battle between Czech youngster Jakub Menšík and 11th seed Andrey Rublev.

Meanwhile, the doubles is being played on Court Simonne-Mathieu. Team India’s Yuki Bhambri partners with Alexander Panov and will take on the 4th seeded mixed doubles team of Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski for a spot in the next round.
