
The cricket Association in Mumbai (MCA) approved a proposal for the appointment of one of the stalls at the Wankhede stadium after the Indian Captain Rohit Sharma. The decision was made during the annual General Meeting of the Association (AGM), which took place on Tuesday, April 15. In addition, they will be in honor of former President BCCi Shada Parwar and launching a large Ajit Wadekar and MCA confirmed.
The proposal to name the stalls of three cricket icons was submitted by politicians and member of the MCA Apex Council Milind Narvekar.
“Another key resolution undergoing AGM during AGM was the approval of the names of the stalls at the WankHhed stadium – the proposal was originally submitted by Milind Narvekar and sent Mr. Jitendra Awhad. The house unanimously approved the name of the booth,” the cricket body said.
Stands will be renamed as follows:
- Grand Stand Level 3: Shri Sharad Pawar Stand
- Grand Stand Level 4: Ajit Wadekar Stand
- Pavilion Divecha 3: Rohit Sharma Stand
During the AGM, MCA also announced that the MCA pavilion office will now be known as the MCA office lounge in memory of AMOLO Kale, the former president of the board who died in 2024 at the age of 47.
The MCA also adopted a resolution to increase the body for associated clubs to RS 75 Crore, with plans to increase its CRS 100 CRS in the coming years, which aims to strengthen local infrastructure and support long -term cricket growth in the city.
“Today’s decision reflects our deep respect for the pillars of cricket in Mumbai and our determination to build an even stronger future. These stalls and this lounge reflect the legacy of those who built Mumbai’s cricket spirit – brick bricks,” said MCA Ajinkya Naik.
Rohit joins the League of Legends
Several legends of the Indian cricket already have named stalls at the Wankhade stadium, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavascar, Vijay Merchant and Dilip Vengsarkar.
Rohit Sharma, like other cricket icons in Mumbai, shares a stored relationship with the WankHhed stadium. Captain India recently revealed that he suggested bringing the World Cup T20 to WankHhede and organizing a victory in Mumbai after led the national team last year to fame.

At the Wankhade stadium, Rohit Sharma gathered 402 runs in 11 international matches on average 36, including centuries and a half century. Overall, in the T20s he scored 2,543 runs in a cult place – including one hundred – most of which came in the colors of the Indians in Mumbai.
