The Work on the VellayAmbballam-althara-vazhuthacaud-Thycaud-Centhitta Road, The Longest Road Included in the Smart City Road Project, Will Be Completed by April 25. The 3 km long road is reconstructed at the price of CRORE 77.81 GBP. The road is made of a four -lane road from Althara to Norway Junction AZ Mettukada after the overpass and a two -lane road from Norwegian to Mettukada. Along with this, the 300 m section from Vellayambalam to Althara was also completed as a four -lane road. The journey is 98% complete and there are only a few finishing touches, the minister said.
All drinking water pipes in areas where road passages were restored and new connections were provided to consumers. All existing electric poles were replaced and the electrical cables drawn by underground channels and the installed columns of the feeder were listed. Cables of various service providers were also redirected through pipes. The drain and sewage system also improved within the project.
On both sides of the road were built sidewalks friendly to disability and were installed railing and wherever they were necessary. Street headlights and landscaping were completed. This road is currently the only one in the city that has the medians Anti-Glare installed on road dividers, the minister said. Road marks and marking are installed.
63 roads
As part of the Thiruvananthapuram Smart City project, 63 roads were developed within the public work department. Separate contracts were concluded for each of the roads that were incapable of operation and 28 roads were developed as a package.
