New Delhi: Rajasthant Royals’ Riyan Parag was on Wednesday a rare interruption during the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals at the ARUN Jaitley stadium when he was forced to change his bats.
Parag, who came to the bat instead of the injured Sanja Samson, was stopped by a decision in the field for a routine control of a lane bat. The bat did not fulfill the required specifications, which led to a short but animated exchange between the body and the clerk. Despite his protest, Parag had no choice but to change his bat before renewing the game.
A video showing the incident has become viral on social media and shows the exact moment when the bat was tested, and Parag’s visible displeasure after learning that it did not take place.
However, the change in the device did not bring the change of assets. Parag managed only 8 runs out of 11 balls before he was released.
This incident contributes to the growing list of players marked to violate bats this season. Previously, KRKR Sunil Narine and Anrich Nortje were also forced to replace their bats after similar checks of matches.
