Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premier League, had the season in 2025. Despite the success of his team, Pant could not get a better of his former franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC), this season. LSG was given two embarrassing defeats – first Ashutosh Sharma in Visag and then Mukesh Kumar in Lucknow.
In both matches not only failed panties with a bat, but his captain’s decisions were also widely criticized by fans and experts. These performances came to the back of the most spoken auction this season, where the hinge decided to leave his childhood franchise and test his value at the IPL auction.
Think tank was released in the LSG dressing room! Absolute nonsense when you don’t have a guy like a BAT panty! The match was lost before he came to the bat! He played well DC and Brillaint Bowling by Mukesh! #Lsgvsdc– Kris SRIKKANTH (@Krissrikkanth) 22 April 2025
In 2024, Pant teased his east of Delhi by tweeting: “If I go to the auction, I will be sold or not and for how much?” What initially seemed to have become a light joking soon became a reality because Pant left DC before mega-auction and LSG was bought for 20.75 Crore RS, which exceeded the DC offer.
Pant’s transition from DC to LSG made him one of the most spoken players before the IPL 2025 season. However, things did not go as planned for a ram battery. While LSG was doing well overall, Pant’s personal appearance was abysmal. His worst performance came to a meeting against Delhi. Here’s a fault:
Dc vs lsg, visag
Rishabh Pant had a disastrous trip when LSG met Delhi for the first time this season. He faced only six balls and was released on the duck and did not contribute to the LSG exchange. At that moment, the LSG was well placed at 133/2 at 11.4 overs, thanks to the brilliant tabs from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsha.
Pant’s release, when he crushed to the FAF du Plessis on Long-off at the 14th. He derailed shifts. His goal was helped by the DC stage comeback and they were able to limit the LSG to 209/8 in the first shifts.
When DC came into the persecution, they were soon in the first over Shardul Thakur tore with a double blow. As DC doughs hit, it seemed inevitable that LSG would win the match. However, young ViPraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma experience built incredible resistance and chased the goal in the final.
To get worse for the pants, there was a confusing decision with the Sharduula Thakura bowling decision. Although he chose two goals in his first via, Pant Shardula gave only two exceeded, kept him in powerplay and did not allow him to mix outside this stage. This decision raised questions about Captain Pant.
Lsg vs dc, lucknow
At the second meeting between LSG and DC, Pant’s Captaincy came back. Pant was released on April 22 on the bat on No. 7, although his team lost goals in the middle phase of the match. Instead of coming to the bat, he sent Ayush Badoni players in front of him and injured her right hand.
What increased the eyebrows, however, was that the hinge came out in the final of the match, faced only two balls and was released on the duck. If the hinge couldn’t really get a bat because of his injury, there was a question – why did he continue to hold a goal for the whole second shift?
Pant’s decision was further questioned when he took a terrible review of DRS against Kl rahul. The ball, tilted by Digveshem Rathie, hit Rahula on the backpad, well off the foot. Pant, stood on the stumps, could not assess the van and unnecessary overview that could be useful later in the game.
Pant’s performance this season was a sharp contrast to his reputation of dynamic dough and captain. While the total LSG campaign is still on the way, its personal appearance and captain’s mistakes left fans and critics disappointed. As the season progresses, the hinge will have to quickly regain its touch if it hopes to turn things, both for itself and for LSG.
