NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the squads for the one-off Test and three-match ODI series vs Afghanistan, both to be played in June in India. KL Rahul replaced Pant as vice-captain of the Indian Test team led by Shubman Gill. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the Test match. While Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey were the new faces included in the Test squad. Among the notable inclusions in the ODI series was fast bowler Prince Yadav, who is having a great season playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026.

Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja rested

  • India’s leading paceman Jasprit Bumrah has been rested after the one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan as part of managing his workload.
  • Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was rested from the one-off Test against Afghanistan as well as the ODI series.

Gurnoore, Manav Suthar call for first visit

  • Spin bowler Manav Suthar and pacer Gurnoor Brar earned their first call-ups to the Test team. Both are teammates from IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.

Rahul gets Test vice-captain

  • Flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been recalled as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team.

Prince gets ODI call-up; Ishan Kishan returns

  • While Prince Yadav is the new face in the ODI line-up, Ishan Kishan is the second wicket-keeper.

Harsh Dubey picked in both teamsChairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar said Dubey is perfectly suited to play the bowling all-rounder role. He says he has impressed in domestic cricket and hopes to make the most of the opportunity presented to him in the senior team.
