Former India Fast Bowler and Lucknow Super Giants Mentor Zheer Khan jumped to defend Rishabh Pant and said the goalkeeper would return to shape earlier than later and that the team leadership has full faith in it. Pant lasted one of the most beautiful spots of his career and managed only 110 runs in nine shifts on average 12.
After Rishabh Pant said He was not very concerned about his form, the Mentor Zheer Khan also overthrew the suggestions that the captain’s struggles were caused by the pressure of his hefty price tag. Pant bought LSG for Rs 27 crore – The most expensive signature in IPL history.
Pant looked low with confidence with a bat and tried to find any rhythm during his shift. More often than not, he couldn’t give enough time to fold and tried to do too early. With the exception of fifty against Chennai Super Kings, the hinge did not exceed the 25-run mark in any of its other eight shifts in IPL 2025.
“I wouldn’t take it with anything like that. He’s a leader and was fantastic as a leader, that’s something I can guarantee for,” Zahreer said then 54-Runa defeat LSG to Mi On Sunday at the Wankhede stadium.
“The kind of effort he spent to ensure that every individual in the group is comfortable, and that planning around everything in the IPL is in place.
“As a leader, he ticks all the fields. As a dough, the middle order depends on the dough and I’m very sure that the impact we want from him will come. It’s just something he clicks,” he added.
Pant had the opportunity to lead the LSG after moving to 60 to 2 at the seventh, lost Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran – two of their most convenient dough this season. LSG needed someone to anchor the shifts in the mammoth chase 216, but the hinge dropped the goal on the second ball he faced, and tried to turn back against the leaves part -time.
Without any main partnership, LSG was tilted to 162 at 19.5 overs.
Pant returned to place 4 just days after he detonated up to 7 in their home defeat Delhi Capitals, a decision that brought criticism for a perceived lack of responsibility. Despite the shift in the paw position, however, the hinge showed no signs of returning to the mold.
“What happened in the last game is something that is gone. What happens next is a very optimistic and positive personality, so on our part it’s just about continuing with it,” Zahreer said.
“Rishabh Pant will continue to be our leader”
Zahreer reiterated that Pant would remain central to LSG plans as a captain and expressed hope that a 27 -year -old man would soon find his form with a bat.
“When you talk about the team and victory at the tournament, we identified Rishabha as a leader who is going to forward this team forward, and there is no doubt,” Zahreer said.
“There will be players who hit the form and others who have not reached; so the game goes.
“We know that on the back of the tournament, the pressure will be high, so it focuses on finding that one shift, this spark – and that applies to anyone,” he added.
After the defeat on my LSG dropped to sixth place in the point table. With five defeats in 10 matches, they cannot afford many other slippers. Zahreer hopes that the week’s break before the next game in Dharamsale will help the team to regroup and bounce back.
“This is something we have been talking about – recurring and rejuvenation when we go to Dharamsaly.
“Several people go forward early because the weather is nice and cool; it’s just that it’s downtime.
“We all put enough work – all teams have. It’s just about finding this spark and those individuals who will have a difference for the franchise,” he added.
